AEP Span’s factory applied graffiti-resistant coating systems consist of a three-coat system including a primer, a color coat, and a graffiti-resistant clear coat in a low to medium gloss and a high gloss. These coating systems are available in all AEP Span paint systems.

The graffiti-resistant coating systems work as a barrier of protection over a steel surface and is formulated to work with PPG’s DuraPrep Prep 400 graffiti remover. The coating systems prevent most graffiti material from gripping or shadowing the surface, which allows the field applied DuraPrep Prep 400 graffiti remover to wipe away graffiti. If an AEP Span architectural metal panel is spray-painted, graffiti can be eliminated by applying the graffiti remover directly to the stain, allowing it to sit for 10 to 60 seconds, then wiping it with a clean cloth or scrubbing it with a nylon brush. Most stains can be removed in 10 minutes or less.

Other graffiti that can be removed include paint overspray, pen and marker ink, lipstick, scuff marks, tape residue, bugs, tar, and many other substances that mar the appearance of steel building panels.
