Metal Wall Panel Designed to Recreate the Look of Dark Walnut Wood

Western States Metal Roofing introduces its T-8 PlankWall panels now available in Walnut Wood. According to the company, the painted metal T-8 Plank- Wall soffit and wall panels are a true-to-life representation of real dark walnut. The PlankWall system consists of four different wood patterns that eliminate repetition and create an authentic looking panel.

“We received an astonishing response once we released T-8 PlankWall Distressed Wood in 2019,” said Paul Rubio, Vice President of Western States Metal Roofing. “Roofers and architects immediately expressed their interest in our wood-inspired metal wall and soffit panels and began requesting more colors. So, we decided to use their feedback and expand T-8 PlankWall to include a finish that looks like a dark walnut and called it Walnut Wood.”

Walnut Wood is available in a Cool Tech 500 PVDF (aka Kynar 500/ Hylar 5000) finish, with a panel width of 8 inches and lengths that vary from 1 foot to 45 feet. According to the manufacturer, these panels require no maintenance as you don’t need to stain, paint, or seal metal. They’re easy to install for vertical or horizontal use with concealed fasteners for wall, soffit, and fascia.

New Non-Penetrating Attachment Solution for Standing Seam Metal Roofs

S-5!’s new GripperFix technology ensures a secure and dependable attachment solution that preserves the integrity of the roof and avoids destructive corrosion. According to the company, this system is quick and simple to install, lasts the life of the roof, maintains roof warranties and is less expensive than other mounting methods. Gripper fix uses S-5 seam clamps or mini clamps to make a secure maintenance-free attachment to any standing seam metal roof using patented non-penetrating S-5 technology.

Traditionally, mounting rooftop ancillary items using concrete blocks for ballast damages a roof and provides a temporary fix. Wooden dunnage causes early corrosion. According to the company, S-5!’s new GripperFix technology ensures a secure and dependable attachment solution that preserves the integrity of the roof and avoids destructive corrosion.

S-5! will introduce its new GripperFix technology February 4-6 at the International Roofing Expo (IRE) in Dallas. Attendees are invited to stop by S-5! Booth #2622 to see firsthand its new universal GripperFix system, which makes mounting almost anything on standing seam and exposed-fastener roof profiles simple and easy.

Metal Roofing and Siding Panel Recreates Look of Reclaimed Metal

Reclaimed Metal Rust is a new pre-painted metal roofing and siding panel from Western States Metal Roofing that recreates the look of reclaimed metal. The panel is made of new steel that looks like an old barn. The panel features white and silver coloring with orange and reddish rust streaks throughout its design to mimic the look of old, faded galvanized that is rusting. The panel is available in Kynar 500 paint system and comes in ten different profile finishes.

Reclaimed Metal Rust is a proprietary color of Western States Metal Roofing and offers a solution for architects and designers that want the look of reclaimed metal without the problems of reclaimed metal.

“Our customers wanted something that looks like faded galvanized and a rusted roof at the same time. Previously, the only way to get something like that would be to locate an old building that had reclaimed sheet metal on the roof,” said Paul Rubio, Vice President of Western States Metal Roofing. “That’s expensive and hard to find. We thought there has to be a better way. That led us to create the Reclaimed Metal Rust panels, which are new steel panels that look like they were taken from an old barn that’s 100 years old.”

According to the company, this specialty paint print is available in coil, flats, metal roofing, siding, and wall panels. Reclaimed Metal Rust panels come in a PVDF/Kynar 500 paint finish. These panels are designed for interior and exterior applications.

Western States Metal Roofing will premier metal Reclaimed Metal Rust at the International Roofing Expo on February 4, 2020. Visitors to the Western States Metal Roofing booth (#1526) at the 2020 IRE Show will be able to view and order panels in Reclaimed Metal Rust for their projects at an exclusive introductory offer. Architects, roofing contractors, and general contractors are encouraged to bring their material lists to the show for a free quote.

New Steel and Aluminum Standing Seam Roof Panel Offers Bi-Directional Installation

Petersen expands its line of PAC-CLAD standing seam roof products with the addition of the T-250 panel. Combining structural performance with architectural aesthetics, architects will enjoy the bolder profile of the T-250, installing contractors will appreciate the bi-directional installation capabilities and building owners will benefit from the panel’s impressive strength.

The strongest of all PAC-CLAD roof products, the T-250 panel is available in 16- and 18-inch widths in multiple gauges of steel and aluminum. T-250 features a nominal 2.65-inch seam height above the roof deck. It is available in all 45 standard PAC-CLAD colors, each of which carries a 30-year non-prorated finish warranty. A weathertightness warranty also is available.

“Our T-250 panel satisfies the needs of architects designing structures that include expansive roof areas requiring long panel runs” said Mike Petersen, president. “Plus, architects might also prefer the wider seam of the T-250 panel, which creates bold shadow lines. The T-250 panel follows Petersen’s drive to continue adding products that expand the creative palette of building designers.”

Standard panel condition for the T-250 is with striations, but smooth is an option. The T-250 is available in 24 and 22 gauge steel, and .032 and .040 gauge aluminum. The T-250 can be specified with a traditional intermittent fastening clip, or a continuous clip fastening system for high-performance open-framing scenarios where extra strength is required. Both clips allow for thermal expansion and contraction. Job-specific design calculations should be performed to determine the type of clip required.

The panel is bi-directional, which allows installers to position the first panel in the center of a roof and install simultaneously in both directions, making it easy to achieve an attractive symmetrical look, while allowing multiple crews to work at the same time.

Named for the shape created where two panels meet, the T-250 is a symmetrical panel whose seams form the letter T. A metal cap is placed over the T and a mechanical seamer bends each side of the cap under the top of the T to form a strong bond. The T-250 panel is equipped with the following tests: ASTM 283, 331, 1680, 1646, E1592 and E2140, plus FM 4474 as well as UL 580 and 1897.

PAC T-250 panels can be factory- or field-formed to length but must be field-seamed. The panels have been designed for application over a wide variety of substrates on roof slopes as low as 1/2:12. Sealant beads are factory-applied to the seam cover. The seam cover is roll formed in the factory.

Substrates may include 5/8-inch minimum plywood, nailboard insulation or equal with WIP 300 underlayment applied horizontally from eave to ridge. Other substrates may include metal decking, purlins or rigid insulation in conjunction with bearing plates, and open framing.

Maximum factory-produced panel length for the T-250 is 54 feet, but longer lengths are available through field forming. Seam covers will be limited to 30-foot maximum lengths and must be field-lapped.

Coil Coatings Available in New Color Palette

Sherwin-Williams unveils a new architect-inspired color palette, Fluropon Architect Series, created by architects who attended the company’s “Color Mixology” event during the AIA Conference on Architecture 2019 in Las Vegas. The private event brought together hundreds of architects who helped to create 10 newly developed colors of Fluropon 70 percent PVDF architectural metal coatings.

“We are thrilled to be unveiling these colors that architects actually created through our interactive color experience at AIA,” said Mike Bourdeau, President of Coil Coatings at Sherwin-Williams. “At Sherwin-Williams, we work to provide architects with endless color possibilities for their projects and Color Mixology was a fun and engaging way for architects to experience color like never before.”

Sherwin-Williams selected 10 unique colors of the hundreds created by architects during Color Mixology and matched them in various Fluropon 70 percent PVDF systems for exterior metal architecture. This special edition color series incorporates a wide range of color, texture and effects. Colors range from solids, to micas, to color-shifting, and each color tells a unique story.

Two of the colors highlighted in the Fluropon Architect Series include Emerald and Moonlight. Emerald, by Rebecca Blake of SmithGroup Los Angeles, has a slight color shift from blue to green and was inspired by California’s coastal colors. Moonlight, by Richard Cabrera of Marnell Architecture Las Vegas, includes blue and red influences that create vibrancy that pops in muted desert landscapes.
