Strengthening its position as a one-stop-shop for complete roof solutions, CertainTeed announces the introduction of seven new roofing ventilation products. Part of the CertainTeed Integrity Roof System, the new product line includes CertainTeed Ridge Vent, CertainTeed Rolled Ridge Vent and CertainTeed Intake Vent.

CertainTeed Ridge Vent is available in 7, 9 and 12 inches with filtered and unfiltered options. Each ridge vent is made of high quality co-polymer to remain sturdy, nailable and flexible. Reinforced ribs provide greater stability and rigidity, imprinted slot guides ensure proper slot width, and nail holes and nail lines enable easy, mistake-free installation. The product line also includes a Class A fire-rated vent.

CertainTeed Rolled Ridge Vent, also available in filtered and unfiltered, is designed for use in roof pitches from 3/12 to 12/12. The product features a unique, virtually invisible profile that installs fast.

CertainTeed Intake Vent is easily installed on a shingled roof with or without overhangs, and can be used to supplement existing soffit or undereave vents. Internal baffles, drainage system and weather filter provide three levels of weather protection. The intake vent allows air to flow into the attic and helps prevent heat build-up and ice dams.

The new ventilation products feature proven, effective technology for shingle roofs in all climates and come with a lifetime limited warranty and five-year SureStart Protection.

The products are designed with an external baffle to deflect wind and weather over the vent, creating low pressure above the vent to pull air out of the attic. Each vent comes in a black finish to blend with a variety of shingle colors and create a clean, uncluttered roofline. All provide excellent weather protection and prevent premature deterioration of roofing materials by continuously moving air year-round to improve interior comfort.

Marley Eternit has launched two large-format interlocking clay roof tiles, which offer the aesthetic qualities of clay, together with the time and cost-saving benefits of interlocking tiles. The new tiles—Maxima and Melodie—are available in Natural Red and can be used at low minimum pitches for greater design flexibility.

Maxima is an interlocking double roman clay tile, with an open gauge so that it can be easily fixed on the roof and doesn’t require any complicated fittings. The tile gives a high coverage rate of 10.1 tiles per square meter, saving installation time and cost.

The Melodie is an interlocking clay pantile which has a traditional appearance, but has one of the lowest minimum pitches in the roofing industry at 12.5 degrees. The robust design of the interlock allows the roof tile to go down to a very low pitch, but the tile also has a flexible gauge so that it can be fixed easily. This low pitch clay pantile gives designers and contractors greater flexibility and is ideal for refurbishments or new builds. The natural red Melodie has a covering capacity of 13.8 tiles per square meter at the maximum gauge and gives a traditional, classic pantile appearance.

Both tiles have been extensively tested for wind driven rain and can be used with Marley Eternit’s Universal accessories, that are not only completely dry fix but can be used to provide ventilation.

Boral Roofing unveiled its latest offerings in its Cool Roof portfolio during the recent International Builders’ Show (IBS) in Las Vegas.

The two Cool Roof colors making their debut at IBS 2014 are the Saxony 900 Slate Charcoal Blend and the Madera 900 Tahoe Blend, both of which are included in the Boral Concrete Roof Tile product line. These new colors have been designed to accommodate the updated California Code of Regulations, Title 24, Part 6. A major revision of the energy code involves new prescriptive Cool Roof requirements in select climate zones for low-rise residential steep-slope roofs. The change has resulted in a sizable increase in the aged Solar Reflective Index (SRI) for all roofing materials: from 10 to 16 or greater.
