Ply Gem Partners with Parksite to Distribute Engineered Slate Roofing

Ply Gem, a manufacturer of exterior building products, announced a partnership with distribution company Parksite Inc. to supply Ply Gem’s new Engineered Slate Roofing. The product will be available by mid-July to building material dealers through three Parksite distribution facilities in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic markets, covering 16 states from Maine to North Carolina. Locations include:

    · South Windsor, Conn., servicing the New England market.
    · North Brunswick, N.J., servicing Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York’s Lower Hudson Valley and Long Island.
    · Baltimore, Md. location, servicing Delaware, Maryland, Central Pennsylvania and Northern Virginia.

Additional locations will be added as the markets demand.

“Parksite’s broad distribution network and proven service reputation, paired with Ply Gem’s high-performance, low maintenance Engineered Slate Roofing are sure to bring the spotlight onto this emerging building materials product category,” said Dave DeRogatis, director of composites, Ply Gem.

Introduced in early 2014, roofing is a new category among Ply Gem’s extensive lineup of more than 20 exterior home product categories. In addition to roofing, Ply Gem offers the complete exterior solution from a single manufacturer – a concept called The Designed Exterior by Ply Gem – including windows, siding, stone veneer, trim and mouldings, fence, railing, accents and accessories.

“This partnership is a win-win for Parksite and Ply Gem,” said Ron Heitzman, president, Parksite. “At Parksite, we only represent quality building products and progressive manufacturers, so we welcome the addition of Ply Gem to our portfolio. As a superior roofing product for builders and contractors, we are positioned to seamlessly deliver the new Ply Gem Engineered Slate Roofing to building material dealers along the east coast.”

In every critical performance category – appearance, durability, ease of installation, water management, cost of ownership and sustainability – Ply Gem Engineered Slate Roofing outperforms other roofing materials such as asphalt, wood, synthetic slate and real slate.

Molded from nearly 100 percent recycled materials, and formulated with real slate, the engineered slate shingles feature deep shadow lines and chiseled edges. Builders and contractors can choose from four color schemes – Sagebrush, Brownstone, Pewter and Charcoal – all pre-blended at the factory to produce the most authentic coloring.

To ease installation, Ply Gem’s engineered slate shingles are lighter weight and manufactured with recessed nail flanges, eliminating the need for additional framing support or any special tools. Additionally, the shingles are designed to resist impact and damage, tested to withstand windloads of up to 110 mph, as well as golf ball-sized hailstones. Also earning one of the industry’s highest fire ratings, the shingles are virtually indestructible.

DaVinci Roofscapes is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year.

“We’ve grown a good deal since our beginnings 15 years ago and we realized that our leased facility would not support our future growth,” says Ray Rosewall, president and CEO of DaVinci Roofscapes. “We recently relocated to a much larger owned facility in Lenexa, Kansas. Our new facility has enabled us to add much-needed capacity and will assure that we can meet the ongoing increases in demand for our impact- and fire-resistant roofing products.”

“We’re extremely proud that all of our products are made in the United States and that we support our economy by providing jobs for hard working folks around the country,” says Rosewall. “We’re part of the multiplier effect because our ‘Made in America’ commitment also means we purchase from suppliers located only in the United States. So, with every roofing tile we sell we’re helping our economy to expand in many, many ways.”

Rosewall relates that the company feels especially patriotic this year because of the company’s anniversary and the use of DaVinci products on several noteworthy American projects.

“Our roofs can be found on thousands of American homes from coast-to-coast along with structures at the University of Notre Dame, at DuSable Museum and on historic St. Patrick’s Church,” says Rosewall. “DaVinci roofs are on the Dayton Veteran’s Administration Chapel, several college campuses, in theme parks and even on the William Penn home. LINE-X Protective Coatings Sponsors Tuff Stuff Off Road Racing Team

LINE-X Protective Coatings has sponsored the Tuff Stuff Off Road Racing Team and supported them in the recent 2014 Tecate SCORE Baja 500 in Baja, Mexico for the four day event. As part of the sponsorship, LINE-X coated the roof, fender flares, interior cab, rocker panels and rear cab of the race truck with LINE-X PREMIUM to enhance the quality and durability of the race truck during the course of the event to protect it from the various high intensity elements that occurred.

“LINE-X enjoys showcasing the ruggedness of our product applications and the LINE-X coated truck in the Baja 500 was a great opportunity for us to highlight the durability of the bedliner in a truly rough environment,” said Kevin Heronimus, CEO of LINE-X Protective Coatings. “As with all LINE-X spray-on coatings, the LINE-X PREMIUM application on the truck is a top quality bedliner that is dependable in the most extreme conditions and will be ideal for the remaining race schedule this summer.”

“LINE-X was chosen by the race team for its ability to outperform any other protection coating on the market. LINE-X managed to protect the race truck from the extremely harsh conditions of Baja California where the truck was abused by all of the silt, rocks and deep crevices that beat the truck up,” said Brett Maister, Managing Partner. “The use of LINE-X completely stopped this from happening and allowed the truck to be washed down and race ready in about one day. The LINE-X coating is now officially Baja tested and approved by the Tuff Stuff Team and you cannot get any more extreme than Baja California”

LINE-X is honored to partner with the Tuff Stuff Off Road Racing team to have the opportunity to help enhance their race vehicle to provide a more durable and protected vehicle that can withstand the wear and tear of the event. The truck had the roof, fender flares, interior cab, rocker panels and rear cab coated with LINE-X PREMIUM as part of its preparation for the Baja 500 and remaining racing season. LINE-X PREMIUM is a high quality, fade, rust and impact resistant bedliner coating with an ultra-violet (UV) element to keep the bedliner looking new with a long-lasting luster, even in harsh environments.

AEP Span Installs Solar Panels on Fontana, Calif., Facility

When the decision was made to replace a 20-year-old roof at the AEP Span Fontana facility, it was a perfect opportunity for the organization to reaffirm its commitment to the environment and the use of renewable energy.

“We are serious about our environmental footprint,” said John Cross, President of AEP Span, a division of ASC Profiles LLC. “Solar power is an excellent form of alternative energy with numerous environmental benefits. In fact, this is our second location where we have installed solar panels.” The West Sacramento corporate headquarters was the first location to have solar carports and roof arrays installed. In ASC Profiles’ corporate offices, a monitor was installed that provides real time cumulative results of the total energy generated and total CO2 offset for both the corporate headquarters and the AEP Span Fontana facility.

The new 439.2 kw solar energy system is a fixed-tilt, roof mount solar array that was installed on AEP Span’s architectural standing seam Span-Lok hp metal roof. With the solar panels now operational, the anticipated results the AEP Span Fontana facility will offset annually is 553 metric tons of CO2, which is equivalent to removing 111 cars from the road, saving 200 tons of waste from landfills, or providing electricity for 74 houses. The expected life of the system is 30 years.

AEP Span has partnered with a variety of customers providing solar structures in the solar industry. Moreover, AEP Span offers a wide range of architectural standing seam metal roof panels that are a perfect complement to roof mount solar panels for the commercial and industrial market. AEP Span standing seam metal roof panels include Design Span hp, Multilok-24, Klip Rib, SpanSeam, Span-Lok hp, and Curved Span-Lok.
