Underlayment Co-Branding Program Gives Roofers Better Visibility

MFM Building Products, a manufacturer of a full envelope of waterproofing and weather barrier products for the building industry, recently announced an Underlayment Co-Branding Program to help customers gain better market visibility. Customers who have helped launch the program have seen increased brand awareness with contractors, builders, sub-contractors and the general public.

The MFM Co-Branding Program includes the company’s two lines of High Temperature Underlayments: MFM Wind & Water Seal and Ultra HT Wind & Water Seal. The Program consists of a custom print die with the customer’s logo and contact information, customized Technical Data Sheet and special carton stickers. Since it is a Co-Branded Program, MFM carries the warranty and all product is shipped in MFM cartons.

MFM Wind & Water Seal and Ultra HT Wind & Water Seal are self-adhering, polymer film surface underlayments laminated to a high temperature adhesive system rated to 250°F. Each is designed for use under most roofing systems, including metal roofing panels where high heat is generated. Roll size is 36” x 67’ (2 Sq.). MFM Wind & Water Seal is 40 mils and Ultra HT is 45 mils thickness.

According to Tony Reis, MFM Sales & Marketing Director, “There is a commitment needed from the customer, but does not include a premium on the product price. This is a great opportunity for the distributor to explore a new marketing vehicle with their customers. We have been pleased with the response so far.”

Samco Machinery Finds Rollforming and Metal Processing Representation in Australia

Samco Machinery, a global manufacturer of rollforming and metal processing solutions, has joined forces with Australian-based global company Metal Form Group, to provide representation for Samco in Australia and surrounding areas.

“For 42 years, Samco has managed growth internationally and strategically with our increasing customer base and diverse product line-up,” said Bob Repovs, Samco President and CEO. “Representation throughout the Australian market by Metal Form Group enables our existing customers and new prospects the convenience of local sales and service support.”

Metal Form Group (originally known as BMH Australia Pty Ltd) commenced operations in 1969 with drafting as its predominant business. In the 1980’s, the company expanded operations and a second company (Balmic International Pty Ltd) was born. That move saw increased focus in selling and servicing products used in supporting the metal stamping industry and in 2006 the business plan shifted from a local-based business to become a global company known as the Metal Form Group. The company has overseen steady growth progressing through various different sites in outer eastern Melbourne and now calls home a 10,000 square meter site located in Knoxfield, Victoria.

“Expertise in rollforming and metal forming processes in general comes from many years of experience and technical knowledge,” said Lindsay Izzard, Metal Form Group General Manager. “To join forces with a well-established, reputable company such as Samco brings exciting opportunities to the Australian roll forming market. As a team Samco and MFG have a vast knowledge of industry requirements and look forward to being able to offer the best quality and service to our customers.”

Like Samco, Metal Form Group is ISO 9001:2008 certified, and with both companies leveraging each other’s strengths, the prospect of offering Australian based customers “the total metal forming solution” is an exciting one.

“The Metal Form Group provides the channel to promote and deliver innovative technology and rollforming solutions to companies new to Samco within the Australian market. Having a great product is one thing; how to ensure a successful project and on-going partnership with a company on the other side of the world is another. This relationship bridges that concern,” said Repovs.

Malarkey Roofing Products Sponsors Nailing Competition at Inaugural WSRCA Roofing Games

The Western States Roofing Contractors Association introduced The Roofing Games at the Western Roofing Expo in June. Designed specifically for the roofing industry, The Roofing Games are the nation’s first official set of competitions sanctioned by a roofing association and are produced in conjunction with the Western Roofing Expo. Participants compete in a series of events that challenge their knowledge and skill set level pertaining to equipment, materials, and processes used in the roofing industry. The WSRCA believes this new addition to the Western Roofing Expo will bring out the competitive spirit in roofing contractors, technicians, and workers, while instilling confidence to excel in their trade, giving them a sense of pride and belonging in an industry that requires both brains and brawn.

This year WSRCA kicked off The Roofing Games with one main event: The Nailing Competition, which was sponsored by Malarkey Roofing Products. The competition was held on Tuesday, June 10th from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Six contestants were randomly chosen in a drawing during the Malarkey Roofing Products demo. With two decks on the stage, contestants battled in a timed event, showcasing their individual asphalt-shingle nailing skills. Contestants were judged on time and accurate shingle installation. The event was well received by attendees and exhibitors, not to mention the participants, who received cash prizes donated by Malarkey Roofing Products. Each participant had the chance of winning anywhere from $100 to $500, plus a Malarkey jacket. WSRCA plans to expand The Roofing Games to include additional events for the Western Roofing Expo 2015.

Metl-Span Participates in Health Product Declaration Collaborative

Metl-Span is participating in the voluntary Health Product Declaration Collaborative to provide accurate information to design professionals about the content of products.

The goal of the HPD Collaborative is to standardize the method in which building product manufacturers report contents, emissions, chemical hazards and the health effects of their products. According to the HPD Collaborative, the program “objectively defines the critical information needed to support accurate supply chain disclosure by manufacturers and suppliers, and informed decisions by building designers, specifiers, owners and users.”

“There is a global move toward complete transparency and openness from the product supply chain,” says Doug Pickens, vice president of marketing at Metl-Span. “Design professionals, architects, specifiers, builders as well as end users need and want to know what chemical exposure is associated with material choices. It’s a necessary step toward providing the best and healthiest building products.”

Completed HPDs provide manufacturer and product information, details of product testing and compliance and products ingredients, such as hazardous chemicals. HPDs can easily be updated as products evolve and improve, providing the most up to date information to consumers.
