Perforated Starter Shingle Designed to Save Time and Reduce Waste

TAMKO Building Products, Inc. introduces the Perforated Starter shingle to its roofing product line. Made from fiberglass mat coated with asphalt and surfaced with ceramic granules, the Perforated Starter course shingle is the answer to roofing contractors need for an easy to install starter strip prior to shingle application. The perforation ensures that contractors no longer lose time field cutting shingles to the appropriate size while reducing related waste.

“Roofing contractors need more ways to make their jobs hassle-free,” said Vice President of Sales and Marketing for TAMKO, Stephen McNally.  “With TAMKO’s Perforated Starter shingle, you remove the tedious time-consuming job of field cutting shingles for the starter course so roofing contractors can finish a job quicker with less waste.”

TAMKO’s Perforated Starter shingle is intended for application to the eave or rake edge of a roof to assist with proper alignment of the shingle course. The starter strip also fills in the spaces under the shingle joints and helps the first course of shingles to seal. Perforated Starter comes in a bundle of 16 full-size (13 ¼ inches) perforated shingles to be separated into 32 starter strip shingles (6 ⅝ inches).

Available now to customers nationwide, the Perforated Starter shingle is being produced at TAMKO’s Frederick, Maryland manufacturing facility. The Perforated Starter shingle can be used with TAMKO’s full line of asphalt shingles including the Heritage series laminated asphalt shingles and Elite Glass-Seal 3-Tab shingles.

Algae Resistant Asphalt Shingles

Railing System Provides Temporary Fall Protection

The Finnish company Alupro announces the immediate availability of the Parapet Bridge for the temporary fall protection AluFix EVO.

In 2015, Alupro successfully introduced the temporary fall protection railing system AluFix EVO for highly secure roof work.

The new Parapet Bridge serves as an additional, outer safety railing, with which the temporary fall protection AluFix EVO can be extended quickly, easily and tool-free. The Parapet Bridge creates additional freedom of movement, because it increases the available working space beyond the parapet. Without having to set up a scaffolding from the outside, e.g. work on the parapet cover can be performed with the proven counterweight system AluFix EVO. The fall protection railing is flexibly applicable up to a parapet thickness of 730 mm and allows safe working on levels up to a roof pitch of 10 degrees. The Parapet Bridge consists of a sturdy, high-quality aluminum construction, which is mounted to a continuous safety railing. Bi-Metal Drill Screws Feature Corrosion Resistance and Ductility

Triangle Fastener Corporation introduces a full line of 304 stainless steel bi-metal self-drilling screws.

Bi-metal screws have heads and threads made of 304 stainless steel providing corrosion resistance and ductility. A hardened carbon steel drill point welded to a stainless steel body, which allows the screw to drill and tap steel up to ½ inch thick.

Plate Marking Tool Designed to Increase Installation Efficiency

OMG Roofing Products introduces a plate marking tool designed to help roofers improve rooftop productivity by quickly locating and marking RhinoBond Plates installed under thermoplastic membranes.  

The new RhinoBond Plate Marking Tool is lightweight, simple-to-use and easy-to-maneuver. Simply roll the marking tool over a row of installed RhinoBond Plates. Every time it passes over a properly installed plate, the tool leaves a temporary mark on the surface of the membrane to identify the plate location. Plate marks are made with standard blue construction crayons and typically fade away within a few weeks.

The plate marking tool is compatible with all thermoplastic membranes regardless of type or thickness. In addition, the tool’s handle is reversible for quick direction changes, and lays flat for rolling under rooftop pipes and raised equipment such as air handling units. Multi-Purpose Joint Sealant Adheres to Damp Surfaces

Kemper System GreatSealKemper System America Inc. offers GreatSeal PE-150, a high-performance, single-component, multi-purpose joint sealant designed for long-lasting weathertight seals. According to the manufacturer, it is ideal for sealing joints in roofing, walls and masonry, as well as gaps around penetrations, flashings, windows and doors.

Based on a polyether sealant, GreatSeal PE-150 contains no solvents and very low VOCs. The multi-purpose indoor/outdoor sealant exhibits excellent weathering properties with a service range of 200oF to minus 40oF (93oC to minus 40oC), movement capability of +/- 25 percent, and zero shrinkage.

According to the company, the product adheres even on damp surfaces. It can be applied in cold weather, and in most cases, without a primer. It bonds aggressively to most building materials, including wood, vinyl, glass, fiberglass, foam insulation, asphalt, modified bitumen, EPDM, PVC, PIB rubber, and Kynar coatings, as well as painted, galvanized and anodized metals.

GreatSeal PE-150 is part of a family of construction sealants from Kemper System. The GreatSeal brand also includes GreatSeal LF-500 Liquid Flashing compatible with Roof Guardian elastomer-based roofing products, and GreatSeal LT-100 polyether Liquid Tape compatible with Wall Guardian FW-100A, a liquid-applied fibered acrylic air barrier. TAMKO Adds Four Shingle Colors in Southeastern United States

TAMKO ShinglesFour new shingle colors are now available for TAMKO Building Products Inc.’s customers in the southeastern United States. The colors, Rustic Brown, Grey Mist, Driftwood and Painted Desert, have been added to TAMKO’s popular Heritage laminated asphalt shingle line and are being produced out of TAMKO’s Tuscaloosa, Alabama, manufacturing facility.

Rustic Brown, Grey Mist and Driftwood are all part of TAMKO’s Classic color collection, and Painted Desert is a part of TAMKO’s innovative America’s Natural Colors collection. According to the company, Rustic Brown features several shades of deep brown, with red highlights and black lowlights to create a warm and classic exterior. Grey Mist is an ethereal combination of light to mid grey tones. Driftwood features a variety of mid-tone browns to create the illusion of deep shadowing. And finally, Painted Desert has a mid-tone golden base, with bold highlights and lowlights in shades of blue, green, red, gold and brown.
