The Hickman Group announced that Thomas Koch, Ph.D., has joined the organization as Technical Director. Dr. Koch has more than 30 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, chemical, textile and power technologies. In addition to providing technical analysis to support code and standard efforts, Dr. Koch will be responsible for developing and administering The Hickman Group’s technical programs and initiatives. He will also lead The Hickman Group’s Code Mentorship Program.
Dr. Koch earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Technikum Winterthur in Switzerland and then a Ph.D. in Physical Analytical Chemistry from the University of Utah. For the past 10 years, Dr. Koch has mentored undergraduate programs in engineering for the University of North Carolina Charlotte. His mentorship has facilitated many teams of engineering students to successfully design and build prototypes for the industry sponsors. He is currently an Associate Teaching Professor in the Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Systems Department.
