Reibus International Launched as Online Marketplace for Construction Materials

John Armstrong and David Bain have founded Reibus International, an online B2B marketplace for prime, excess prime and obsolete materials used in industrial, transportation, and construction markets.

“We believe that the online channel is increasingly becoming a preferred method for buying and selling materials as traditional industries continue to invest to remove friction from their supply chains,” noted Armstrong and Bain. “Our long-term goal is to be the leading global B2B marketplace for industrial products including metals, plastics, papers, machinery, etc.”

According to the company, its strengths include the ability to develop the technology to support the marketplace and in-depth product specification and supply chain understanding. “Our online platforms allow us to match supply and demand for existing and future demand of metals while achieving greater reach, price performance and efficiency relative to the fragmented network of physical distribution centers, brokers and dealers that have traditionally served this market,” noted Armstrong and Bain. “In 2018, our initial target is to connect over 100 unique sellers to over 1,000 unique buyers through our marketplace.”

Customers include both sellers and buyers of metals. According to Armstrong and Bain, sellers and buyers include a broad mix of metal-based manufacturers ranging from large multi-national corporations, regional mid-market specialists and sole proprietors. These include primary metals producers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), metal service centers, and contract fabricators. Materials sold through the marketplace are used primarily in the commercial construction, commercial transportation, agriculture and RV industries.

“For sellers, our platform is designed to maximize price performance, minimize time requirements, expand market reach and reduce sales and marketing-related expenses as compared to traditional methods,” said Armstrong and Bain. “For buyers, our marketplace increases selection and market transparency, while reducing the time and investment required to search for, identify, evaluate and procure materials. A key element of our online marketplace is our proprietary search tool and materials listing process. This provides buyers and sellers with a simple to use interface that speeds up an otherwise cumbersome process.”

John Armstrong is a founder and the CEO at Reibus International. Prior to founding Reibus, he was vice president and general manager at Omnimax International.
