Stanley Seeks Nominations for “BUILD YOUR AMERICA 2016” Contest

STANLEY has launched its “BUILD YOUR AMERICA 2016” contest where participants nominate and vote for a USA public charity or private foundation to be one of three grand-prize winners that will receive $10,000, and an assortment of Stanley Black & Decker products valued at $1,000 for use in completing a community project. This is the third year in a row in which Stanley has sponsored a contest to give back to the community. 

To enter, participants are asked to describe in 500 characters or less how they would like to honor their community by nominating a charitable organization to receive the grand prize. Participants and nominees are encouraged to share their stories to drive votes for their projects. 

“STANLEY BUILD YOUR AMERICA 2016’s” grand prize winner for the July entry/nomination period is Active Heroes Retreat Center of Shepherdsville, Ky. Active Heroes Retreat Center is where veterans, active duty military, and their families come to heal through outdoor activities. 

“Active Heroes is excited to win the first Build Your America contest from Stanley Tools,” said Troy Yocum, founder of Active Heroes. “We will be able to use this cash donation and Stanley tools to help develop our welcome center at the Active Heroes Retreat Center to help thousands of visiting veterans and their families.” 

Active Heroes will be using their prize to build a new welcome center as an uplifting check-in destination and where visitors can be connected with additional resources during their stay.  

The contest has one entry/nomination period remaining (all times shown below are in USA Eastern Time):

• Entry/Nomination Period – Nov. 1, 2016, at 8:59 AM – Nov. 22, 2016, at 4:59 PM
• Voting Period – Nov. 22, 2016, at 5:00 PM – Nov. 29, 2016, at 4:59 PM

To be nominated in this contest, the charitable organization must be a public charity or private foundation that has qualified as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.
