CertainTeed Opens Warehouse in First Phase of Midwest Production and Distribution Site

CertainTeed Corp. has commemorated the opening of a new state-of-the-art 150,000 square-foot roofing product warehouse, located 60 miles west of St. Louis in Jonesburg, Mo. The warehouse is the first phase of a planned $100 million complex set to open in 2016, which will serve as the Midwestern production and distribution site for all of the company’s high-performance roofing products, optimally servicing Central U.S. customers.

The baseball-themed open house event, “Rounding Third and Heading for Home,” allowed guests, including contractors, architects, distributors and local dignitaries, an opportunity to participate in educational seminars, product demonstrations and tours of the new facility.

“Opening this spectacular new warehouse on schedule is a testament to our firm commitment to the St. Louis community, as well as the graciousness of state and local officials,: says Tom Smith, president of CertainTeed Roofing. “Our company was founded over a century ago in St. Louis, and we’re proud to say we’re well on our way to having another home base in the area, which will guarantee efficient, local order delivery.”

Construction is already underway for the 60,000 square-foot manufacturing facility that will produce CertainTeed’s highly popular Landmark roofing shingles. When complete, the facility will serve as the production and distribution site for residential roofing shingles, bringing approximately 100 new permanent, local jobs to the community over the next few years, along with an estimated 400 ancillary local jobs in trucking, welding and maintenance services.

In addition to the Jonesburg facility, CertainTeed operates 10 asphalt shingle plants, one low-slope commercial roofing facility and three stand-alone granule production plants throughout the U.S. ‹ which includes the world’s largest roofing plant in Oxford, N.C.

CertainTeed Launches Second Webisode Featuring Facebook Home Makeover Contest Winner

CertainTeed launched its second webisode in the 2013 Living Spaces Facebook Home Makeover Video Contest featuring the Bielfelt family of Mentor, Ohio. In this webisode, the family is empowered by CertainTeed’s digital design and color tools, allowing them to take a more active role in designing their home’s exterior makeover.

Using the CurbAppeal iPad app, ColorCoach virtual swatch book and ColorView home visualization design tool, the family takes you along as they view and try on roofing, siding and trim color and profile options, and see them applied to a photo of their own home before installation. This, along with guidance from their 5-Star Green and Master Shingle Applicator contractor, RJK Construction Co., of Willoughby, Ohio, helped them choose a winning combination of products to create a vibrant exterior.

Grand prize winner of the $75,000 exterior makeover contest, the Bielfelts are the subject of a series of CertainTeed Living Spaces webisodes documenting the renovation of their 100-year-old home. The series follows the family, along with CertainTeed 5-Star Green, 5-Star Fence and Master Shingle Applicator contractors, from the planning stages of the renovation through its completion. In the first two webisodes, the homeowner selected multiple products, including Cedar Impressions and Monogram siding, Restoration Millwork trim, EverNew decking and railing, Bufftech fence and Landmark Pro roofing.

This summer, yet another lucky homeowner will be eligible to receive $75,000 worth of exterior building products, including installation. To enter the contest, homeowners need to round up their cast of kin, show off their acting talents and upload their most entertaining 30- to 90-second video to the CertainTeed Living Spaces Facebook page. Videos should creatively explain why the home needs a makeover using CertainTeed¹s expansive selection of polymer, insulated and vinyl siding, roofing, housewrap, decking, railing, fence and trim. Find more information and complete contest details.

CertainTeed offers Freedom of Choice through its portfolio of roofing, long-lasting polymer, insulated and vinyl siding as well as fence, railing, decking and exterior trim. CertainTeed offers the advantage of using exterior products from a single source that are designed to mix-and-match with each other and feature authentic textures, versatile styles and rich color combinations, for a beautifully coordinated look. As the result of a strong commitment to environmental responsibility, CertainTeed is the first manufacturer to issue and publish third-party validated life cycle assessments (LCA) for its vinyl and trim product lines.

The Top Gun movie-themed contest will award nine first place winners $10,000, nine second place winners $8,000 and nine third place winners $7,000. New Roofing Ventilation Products

CertainTeed Intake Vent

CertainTeed Intake Vent

Strengthening its position as a one-stop-shop for complete roof solutions, CertainTeed announces the introduction of seven new roofing ventilation products. Part of the CertainTeed Integrity Roof System, the new product line includes CertainTeed Ridge Vent, CertainTeed Rolled Ridge Vent and CertainTeed Intake Vent.

CertainTeed Ridge Vent is available in 7, 9 and 12 inches with filtered and unfiltered options. Each ridge vent is made of high quality co-polymer to remain sturdy, nailable and flexible. Reinforced ribs provide greater stability and rigidity, imprinted slot guides ensure proper slot width, and nail holes and nail lines enable easy, mistake-free installation. The product line also includes a Class A fire-rated vent.

CertainTeed Rolled Ridge Vent, also available in filtered and unfiltered, is designed for use in roof pitches from 3/12 to 12/12. The product features a unique, virtually invisible profile that installs fast.

CertainTeed Intake Vent is easily installed on a shingled roof with or without overhangs, and can be used to supplement existing soffit or undereave vents. Internal baffles, drainage system and weather filter provide three levels of weather protection. The intake vent allows air to flow into the attic and helps prevent heat build-up and ice dams.

The new ventilation products feature proven, effective technology for shingle roofs in all climates and come with a lifetime limited warranty and five-year SureStart Protection.

The products are designed with an external baffle to deflect wind and weather over the vent, creating low pressure above the vent to pull air out of the attic. Each vent comes in a black finish to blend with a variety of shingle colors and create a clean, uncluttered roofline. All provide excellent weather protection and prevent premature deterioration of roofing materials by continuously moving air year-round to improve interior comfort.
