Showalter Roofing Service Inc. Honored with 2019 CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award

In recognition of its generosity and service, Showalter Roofing Service Inc., Naperville, Ill., has been presented with the seventh annual CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award sponsored by the National Roofing Contractors Association and CNA.

The award honors charitable works performed by NRCA contractor members.

Showalter Roofing Service created A Roof Over Your Head, a 501(c)(3) organization that helps homeowners in need of household repairs, such as exterior decking, porches, stairs, railing repairs and cleaning, fence and gate repairs and more. In 2018, Showalter Roofing Service provided A Roof Over Your Head with material, labor and equipment for 69 projects.

CNA awarded Showalter Roofing Service with $7,500 to be presented to A Roof Over Your Head. In addition, NRCA dedicated the proceeds of its Cyber Monday sale in November 2018 to the winning charity. The sale generated $533, and all the proceeds will be donated to A Roof Over Your Head.

Additionally, second-place winner Legacy Restoration, Plymouth, Minn., received $5,000 for its charitable efforts to Volunteers of America, which included making 100 tie blankets by hand for foster kids and families in transition; packing 150 lunch meals for children lacking a nutritious afterschool snack and individuals experiencing homelessness; and adopting 21 families for Christmas and providing gifts, among other efforts.

Third-place winner, Core Contractors, Roofing Systems, Denver, received $2,500 for its work with The Other Side Academy, a training school that teaches pro-social, vocational and life skills and is available as an alternative for individuals facing long-term incarceration and those seeking change from the life they chose in the past. Core Contractors co-founder Andrew Schmidt spearheaded an effort to raise funds for TOSA Denver.

In addition, Beldon Roofing Co., San Antonio, was the winner of the People’s Choice Award, which was selected by public online voting on NRCA’s website, and received $1,500 for its work with Susan G. Komen San Antonio.

The awards were presented Feb. 12 at the NRCA Industry Awards Ceremony and Cocktail Reception held during NRCA’s 132nd Annual Convention in Nashville.

NRCA Seeking Submissions for CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award

For the seventh year, the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and CNA have partnered to co-sponsor the 2018 CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award. NRCA roofing contractor members are urged to submit any charitable project, activity or donation completed between January 1, 2017, and December 31, 2017, for consideration in the awards program, which shines a light on the roofing industry’s charitable works. The deadline for submissions is Dec. 22, 2017.

Winning charities will receive:

  • 1st Place — $7,500
  • 2nd Place — $5,000
  • 3rd Place — $2,500
  • People’s Choice — $1,500
  • Any charitable project undertaken by an NRCA contractor member is eligible to receive the award. Projects, activities or donations do not have to involve roofing work.

    Entries Sought for CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Awards

    CNA and NRCA teaming up again this year to honor charitable works by NRCA contractor members through the CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award. Roofing contractor members are encouraged to submit any charitable project, activity or donation that took place between Jan. 1, 2017 and Dec. 31, 2017 for a chance to win up to $7,500 for their charity. The deadline for entries is Dec. 22.

    Any charitable project undertaken by an NRCA contractor member is eligible. Projects, activities or donations do not have to involve roofing work. For example, funds raised for a cause or volunteer work at a children’s hospital would qualify.

    According to NRCA, submissions must include an entry form, an in-depth description of the charitable work performed, and a testimonial from the receiving charity explaining how the donation helped its operations. Entries can contain other relevant supporting materials including photos, videos, press clippings, etc.
    Members submitting entries are encouraged to create a Dropbox folder containing all materials and email the Dropbox link to Charlotte Norgaard, NRCA’s media relations manager, at cnorgaard@nrca.net by close of business Dec. 22.

    Entries may also be submitted by mail. All mailed entries must contain the same supporting material as electronic submissions and must be received by Dec. 22. Entries submitted by mail may be sent to Charlotte Norgaard, 10255 W. Higgins Road, Suite 600, Rosemont, IL 60018.

    Antis Roofing & Waterproofing Receives Community Involvement Award

    In recognition of its continuous efforts to help the people of Orange County by keeping roofs over their heads and helping dozens of local charitable organizations, Antis Roofing & Waterproofing, Irvine, Calif., has been presented with the fifth annual CNA/NRCA Community Involvement Award co-sponsored by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and CNA.

    The award honors charitable works performed by NRCA contractor members.

    Antis Roofing & Waterproofing was selected for its nonprofit organization The Antis Foundation. Founded in 2016, the Antis Foundation actively supports many local charities, including Habitat for Humanity, Orange County Ronald McDonald House, Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation and Alzheimer’s Orange County.

    The Antis Foundation helps these organizations through its employee volunteer program, charitable grants, corporate and nonprofit collaborations, and pro-bono roofing work.

    CNA awarded Antis Roofing & Waterproofing with $7,500 to be used in support of The Antis Foundation.

    Additionally, second-place winner Advanced Roofing Inc., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., will receive $5,000 for its ongoing support of the Sonrise Mission, a faith-based rehabilitation program for adults with life-controlling dependency issues.

    Third-place winner, Academy Roofing, Aurora, Colo., will receive $2,500 for its work with the Rose Andom Center, which assists victims of domestic violence.

    The awards were presented March 2 during NRCA’s Awards Ceremony and Cocktail Reception held during NRCA’s 130th Annual Convention in Las Vegas.
