Carlisle SynTec and Detec Systems Announce Factory Mutual (FM) Rated Roof Assemblies that include Electronic Leak Detection

Carlisle SynTec Systems has collaborated with Detec Systems to offer the single-ply Factory Mutual (FM) rated roof assemblies that include Detec’s TruGround Conductive Primer, the conductive medium needed for effective Electronic Leak Detection (ELD).

ELD has become the method of choice for ensuring a watertight membrane system that is free of breaches, holes, or seam voids. Detec Systems’ patented TruGround Conductive Primer is liquid-applied, making application quick and easy and allowing it to be used with bareback membranes, including black EPDM.

Carlisle has conducted testing with FM and Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to ensure that the performance of a select few of its roof assemblies were unaffected by the addition of the conductive medium, and therefore insurable by FM. SPRI to Canvass BPT-1 Fastener and Stress Plate Standard

SPRI, the association representing sheet membrane and component suppliers to the commercial roofing industry, announced that it is partnering with FM Approvals to create a new standard which will allow the roofing industry to perform comparative small scale testing of roofing fasteners and/or stress plates through board stock materials, such as insulations, cover boards, etc. The proposed standard will be canvassed for approval as an American National Standard.

SPRI/FM BPT-1 will allow various comparative tests for new or different board stock materials, fasteners plates, etc. The proposed standard is based on the FM Approvals existing small-scale test procedure for Plate-Insulation Board Pull Through.
