The Rosemont, Ill.-based National Roofing Contractors Association held National Roofing Week June 5-11 to increase recognition of the significance of roofs to every home and business in the U.S., promote the good deeds of the roofing industry and emphasize the value of professional roofing contractors.

Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) sponsored congressional recognition of National Roofing Week in the Congressional Record. The recognition explains a roof’s importance as a component of a home or business and recognizes National Roofing Week and its purpose.

Observe National Roofing Week by Making Informed Decisions About Roof System Maintenance

To increase recognition of the significance of roofs to every home and business, stress the value of professional roofing contractors, bring attention to the value of a career in roofing and promote the good deeds of the industry, the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) is urging communities throughout the U.S. to recognize National Roofing Week taking place June 5-11.

The roof is one of the most important components of a structure, yet it is often taken for granted until it falls into disrepair. During National Roofing Week, NRCA encourages its members to participate by engaging in their communities and informing the public about the essential role roofs and professional roofing contractors play in every community.

Most roof systems last more than 20 years; however, routine evaluation and maintenance is necessary to extend its life and keep overall costs down. NRCA urges consumers to observe National Roofing Week by paying attention to wear and tear on their roof systems, and to make informed decisions about roof system maintenance and replacement.

NRCA will recognize National Roofing Week by highlighting the work, training and good deeds of its members and their employees on its various social media outlets. The winners of NRCA’s third annual children’s art contest will also be announced. Children in grades one through eight, who are relatives of NRCA members and their employees submitted artwork depicting the importance of roofs and the professional roofing contractor.

Contest winners will have their artwork featured on all National Roofing Week material and additional promotional material to be displayed at industry events throughout the year, including the 2017 International Roofing Expo and NRCA’s 130th Annual Convention in Las Vegas.

Roofing Professionals Give Back During National Roofing Week

In honor of National Roofing Week—July 5-11—King of Texas Roofing Co. L.P., Grand Prairie; H&E Equipment, Dallas; Rmax, Dallas; Jim Whitten Roof Consultants, Austin; and the Rosemont, Ill.-based National Roofing Contractors Association, along with other industry partners, donated labor, materials, expertise and additional necessities to repair the roof system at Momentous Institute, Dallas. The institute helps build and repair social and emotional health for more than 6,000 children and family members every year through educational and therapeutic programs. It is owned and operated by the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, a service organization of more than 600 business and community leaders committed to transforming kids’ lives.

The project, which replaced 26,000 square feet of the nearly 20-year-old roof on the campus at 106 E. 10th Street enables Momentous Institute to prioritize its funding for operations instead of capital investments.

“As professional roofing contractors, it’s our duty to give back to the communities we work and live in by serving those in need,” says Nelson Braddy, president of King of Texas Roofing. “National Roofing Week is important for recognizing the importance of every roof system, the value of the professional roofing contractor and also for encouraging roofing companies to give back to those who provide services to our communities.”

“This new roof is a huge undertaking for NRCA, King of Texas and the many sponsors who helped make it a reality,” adds Michelle Kinder, Momentous Institute’s executive director. “We are grateful to be part of National Roofing Week. The new roof will enable us to redirect funds to invest in those we serve.”

NRCA Aims to Increase Awareness During National Roofing Week

Roofs are one of the most important parts of our homes, schools and businesses. But they’re often ignored until in need of repair or replacement. During National Roofing Week, July 5-11, the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) aims to increase awareness about the importance of hiring professional roofing contractors and making informed decisions about maintaining or replacing any roof system.

“National Roofing Week is about raising the public’s awareness about not only how vital a roof is, but also the importance of professional roof installation and maintenance to ensure safe, long lasting roof systems,” says Bill Good, CEO of NRCA. “Professional roofing contractors raise the bar for quality roof system work, and National Roofing Week helps homeowners and business owners make educated decisions when choosing a roofing professional.”

In honor of National Roofing Week, NRCA and King of Texas Roofing (Dallas) hosted a community service project, replacing the roof of Momentous Institute, owned and operated by the Salesmanship Club of Dallas. Momentous Institute is a nationally acclaimed lab school that provides therapeutic services to children and families in need in the Dallas area.

NRCA manufacturer members RMax (Dallas) OMG Roofing Supplies (Agawam, Mass.), Johns Manville (Denver), H&E Equipment Services (Dallas), Roofing Supply Group (Dallas) and Jim Whitten Roof Consultants (Austin, Texas) donated materials and labor for the project.

King of Texas Roofing re-covered 26,000 square feet of the nearly 20-year-old roof with 1-inch polyiso insulation and a 60-mil, white thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roof system. To celebrate National Roofing Week, NRCA is encouraging professional roofing contractors to participate in roofing or non-roofing related community service projects.

“In honor of National Roofing Week, we want to promote the good deeds of the roofing industry and emphasize the value of professional roofing contractors to the communities where they live and work,” says Good. “The best way to do that is through community service projects. We encourage all professional roofing contractors to engage with their communities and help in any way they can.”

During National Roofing Week, NRCA will recognize the winners of its annual Children’s Art Contest that was open to children in grades one through eight who are relatives of NRCA members and their employees. Contest winners will have their artwork featured on all 2015 National Roofing Week materials and displayed at industry events throughout the year.

CNA Makes Donation to Chicago Chapter of Rebuilding Together

In celebration of National Roofing Week, Chicago-based insurer CNA has donated $5,000 to the Chicago chapter of Rebuilding Together, a nonprofit organization that rehabilitates the homes of low-income homeowners.

CNA’s donation was presented during NRCA‘s board of directors meeting Thursday, July 10, at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago. The meeting was part of NRCA’s Midyear meetings, which are held concurrently with National Roofing Week.

Taking place July 6-12, National Roofing Week aims to increase recognition of the significance of roofs to every home and business, promote the good deeds of the roofing industry and stress the value of professional roofing contractors.

NRCA contractor members are encouraged to give back to their communities and charitable organizations during National Roofing Week.

“As part of our commitment to serving our communities and as a proud partner of NRCA for more than 44 years, CNA is excited to support National Roofing Week with a donation to Rebuilding Together, an organization dedicated to improving the homes of Chicago’s most challenged neighborhoods,” says Rhonda Lohmar, CNA’s program director for NRCA.

NRCA contractors participating in the Lydia Home repairs are Nations Roof, Rolling Meadows, Ill.; Ridgeworth Roofing, Frankfort, Ill.; and Waukegan Roofing, Waukegan, Ill. Karnak Corp., Clark, N.J., donated materials for the project.

NRCA also will be hosting a fundraising effort on behalf of Lydia Home during National Roofing Week.

Contractor members throughout the U.S. are encouraged to give back to their communities in a similar way during National Roofing Week.

In addition, NRCA will be recognizing the winners of the “Everybody Needs a Roof” Children’s Art Contest, which was open to children in grades 1-8 who are relatives of NRCA members or their employees.

Contest winners will have their artwork featured on all 2014 National Roofing Week material and additional promotional material to be displayed at industry events throughout the year, including the 2015 International Roofing Expo® and NRCA’s 128th Annual Convention in New Orleans.

Many NRCA members donate resources and time to charitable events and support organizations in cities and towns across America,” says NRCA President Nelson R. Braddy Jr. “National Roofing Week will enable NRCA members to highlight their community involvement and educate consumers regarding the importance of hiring a professional roofing contractor when a roofing need arises.”
