Utilizing ADESO Dual-Compound Self-Adhered Technology for fast, labor-saving application, Polystick XFR features an SBS (elastomeric) modified bitumen upper compound and an aggressive self-adhesive compound on the bottom. Fiberglass reinforcement provides additional strength and stability, and Polyglass’ own patent-pending Burn-Shield Technology provides superior resistance to flame spread. The end result is a penetration-resistant underlayment of unmatched quality rated to withstand temperatures up to 265 degrees Fahrenheit.

Because Polystick XFR is specifically designed for high-temperature applications, it is an ideal underlayment for metal roof covering systems like steel, copper and similar materials. It is also approved for use under asphalt shingles, mechanically attached tiles, and any other application where fire resistance is needed or desired. When used as a secondary layer above Polystick MTS PLUS, this product can be installed as part of a multi-ply underlayment system. Enhanced Self-Adhered Membranes Reduce Installation Time and Labor Cost

A pioneer of self-adhered roofing technology, Polyglass manufactures a full line of multi-surface membranes that do not require a torch or hot asphalt during application. Polyglass recently added a new labor saving feature, patent-pending SEALLap Ultra, to promote instantaneous watertight side lap seams in all the Self-Adhesive Membranes. New EPDM Membrane Designed to Reduce Installation Time and Effort

Firestone Building Products Company LLC(FSBP) introduces FullForce EPDM, the next evolution of Secure Bond systems. According to the manufacturer, FullForce EPDM can be installed more than four times faster than standard adhered EPDM and in temperatures as low as 20 degrees Fahrenheit, allowing contractors to complete more jobs throughout the entire roofing season.

FullForce is the industry’s only EPDM membrane fully coated from seam to seam with Firestone’s factory-applied Secure Bond pressure-sensitive adhesive. With no seam tape, FullForce can be installed more quickly than traditional EPDM, offering valuable time savings for contractors and allowing roofers to get more projects done in a year. Additionally, the solution is ideal for occupied buildings and building owners, as it contains zero volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Hoekstra Roofing Company, based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, was one of the first contractors to experience the time and labor savings of FullForce EPDM during a third-party time study conducted on one of its recent projects, Green Bay Packaging Inc. According to the study, Hoekstra Roofing’s four-person crew was able to install a 10-foot by 100-foot FullForce EPDM self-adhering membrane in just under 8 minutes versus nearly 36 minutes to install a traditional EPDM membrane of the same size.

Redesigned High-Temp Underlayment Offers Improved Walkability, Reduced Bleed-Through

Polyglass U.S.A. Inc. announces that Polystick MU-X self-adhered, high-temperature underlayment has been redesigned. A secondary water barrier for roof coverings, Polystick MU-X features an enhanced black polypropylene film, improving membrane walkability and reducing bleed-through.

Polystick MU-X is designed especially for high-temperature environments. It is rated as temperature resistant to 250 degrees Fahrenheit and has an exposure window of 90 days for job flexibility. Polystick MU-X features a proprietary SBS modified bitumen upper compound and patented ADESO dual-compound self-adhered technology on the bottom side of the reinforcement. A split-release film on the bottom of the roll allows for ease of application. Convenient 3-inch lay lines printed on both edges allow bi-directional installation, saving time and labor.

VaproShield’s Self-Adhered System Obtains a Declare Label

VaproShield announces the WrapShield SA Self-Adhered System has completed the process of obtaining a Declare label. The Declare program was launched in 2014 by the International Living Future Institute (ILFI), founder of the Living Building Challenge, to promote greater transparency in the building products industry. Referred to as a “nutrition label” for building products, Declare labels list all of the materials found in a given product, as well as its assembly site, life expectancy, and other key details to facilitate informed decisions toward positive human and environmental health. The Declare program aims to give people and businesses greater power when deciding what products to surround themselves with in their home or office.

In order to qualify for a Declare label, a building product must either be free of, or declare any harmful Red List chemicals, and meet all Appropriate Sourcing Imperatives as determined by the ILFI. WrapShield SA Self-Adhered required no changes to its formulation or material components, because it was designed to be free of harmful ingredients.

Firestone Building Products Co. LLC, a manufacturer and supplier of a comprehensive “Roots to Rooftops” product portfolio, introduced its CLAD-GARD SA-FR with CoreGard Technology. The product is a self-adhered, waterproof, UL Class A underlayment and allows for substantial labor and materials savings. It has been strategically engineered to not only protect metal roofing systems from fire, but streamline the installation process.

UL Class A metal roofs protect rooftops, buildings and occupants from the spread of fire, which is key to safeguarding surrounding structures and communities. By offering the fire protection of UL Class A roofing materials in an underlayment, CoreGard Technology reduces installation time, labor costs and the overall number of materials for commercial roofing projects.

To achieve the same fire standard without CLAD-GARD SA-FR with CoreGard Technology, contractors would need to install a separate product, entirely, for their metal roofing systems. Up to six layers of total materials and installation stages would be necessary to accomplish this feat, which is accomplished in just four layers using CLAD-GARD SA-FR underlayment on a metal roofing system.

CLAD-GARD SA-FR with CoreGard Technology is safer, overall, for installers due to its skid-resistant top film. It is also ASTM 1970 approved and self-seals around nails or metal roofing fasteners. In addition, it provides a 120-day exposure. Primer is not required in temperatures of 40 F or higher, making the process a quick and easy one.
