SFS Group Acquires Triangle Fastener Corporation

SFS Group announced it has acquired Triangle Fastener Corporation (TFC). TFC, with headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is a leading provider of fasteners and other products for the commercial construction industry. TFC produced sales of more than $ 70 million in 2018 and has approximately 200 employees. Thanks to this acquisition, SFS will be able to expand access to the market and its customers in the American building sector. 

TFC was founded in 1977 and supplies end users in the commercial construction industry with a comprehensive assortment of customer-specific fasteners, as well as other application solutions. TFC sells its products to roughly 6,000 active customers through 23 separate branch locations in 15 states, and is one of the leading suppliers in the Eastern United States. 

According to SFS Group, TFC will operate as a part of the Construction division within the Fastening Systems segment. The company will be led by the existing management, thus ensuring its continuity.

Pancake Head Screw Approved by FM for Wall Fastening

Triangle Fastener Corporation Triangle Fastener Corporation (TFC) announces that the company’s ¼-14 DP3 Concealor Pancake Head Screw is now FM approved for wall fastening per FM Approval Standard 4881 — Class 1 Exterior Wall Systems.

TFC developed the ¼-14 DP3 Concealor Pancake Head Screw specifically to attach Insulated Metal Panels (IMPs). According to the company, the screw’s unthreaded section eliminates jacking of the insulated panel during face fastening. The screw has a #3 square recess drive that provides stability during installation, and its large diameter pancake head is designed to increase pullover strength compared to smaller diameter heads. The screws are TRI-SEAL coated for superior corrosion protection.

Triangle Fastener Corp. has added two sizes to its BLAZER Stainless Cap Head Drill Screw product offering. Now available are a #12-24 by 1 1/4-inch and 2-inch BLAZER-5 designed to attach steel, aluminum or stainless steel to steel substrates from 0.125- to 0.500-inch thick. BLAZER-5Point drills and taps up to 1/2-inch-thick steel. It offers a 304 stainless-steel cap head and an EPDM washer that provide long-life performance in the harshest environments. The shank slot reduces tapping torque. TRI-SEAL 1,000-hour salt-spray coating provides lubricity during tapping and increases corrosion resistance.

MCA Presents Awards to Three Outstanding Achievers in the Metal Construction Industry

The Metal Construction Association (MCA) presented awards to three outstanding achievers in the metal construction industry at its winter meeting held in St. Pete Beach, Fla.

Mark James of Roof Hugger Inc. and Randy Allen from Triangle Fastener Corp. were honored with MCA’s Patrick R. Bush Volunteer Service Award, and Ken Buchinger of NCI Building Systems was honored with MCA’s Larry A. Swaney Award.

With 38 years in the metal construction industry, Allen was acknowledged for championing the creation of the MCA Accessories Council, which he is now serving as chair. He was also recognized for his involvement in numerous other MCA committees, councils and initiatives including assisting with the demo area at METALCON, helping to facilitate the Metal Roofing Championship Games, and coordinating MCA’s golf outings.

Credited with completing more than 30 million square feet of retrofit roof projects in his career, Mark James was appreciated for his work in planning, constructing and operating the MCA demo area at METALCON. He was also recognized for being the primary individual responsible for the Metal Roofing Championship Games for the past two years, as well as actively volunteering on the council level.

With more than 40 years in the metal construction industry, Ken Buchinger was honored for serving on the MCA Board from 2006-14, as well as his contributions in technical research for the association. Buchinger’s work led to many key initiatives that benefited the metal construction industry, including MCA’s Metal Roof Service Life Project and its Spray Foam Research Project. He has been an ambassador for education and training and a primary contributor to MCA’s Roofing Installation Manual.
