Basketball Legend Julius Erving to Provide Keynote Address at IRE

Legendary NBA star Julius “Dr. J” Erving will present the keynote address during the 2018 International Roofing Expo (IRE), taking place Feb. 6-8, in New Orleans. Known as one of the greatest players of all time, Erving will reveal his strategy for overcoming challenges and illustrate how to cultivate a champion’s mindset.

“Not only is Dr. J one of the most accomplished athletes in the history of professional basketball, he is also a successful businessman who will share his winning philosophy,” said Tracy Garcia, CEM, Director of the IRE. “Our attendees and exhibitors will walk away motivated and empowered with a plan for success.”
 
Through triumph and adversity on and off the court, Erving will share what he has learned through his storied 16-year NBA career. Erving played with the Philadelphia ’76ers for 11 years and was named to the NBA All-Star First Team in 1978, 1980, 1981, 1982 and 1983. In addition to his athletic honors, Erving has received many civic and community service awards.

Since his retirement, Erving has forged a successful business and basketball executive career. After serving as an in-studio analyst for NBC, Erving joined the Orlando Magic’s front office staff. He also is investments include ownership of a Coca-Cola bottling plant in Philadelphia and cable television stations in New York and New Jersey.

Held immediately prior to the opening of the show, the keynote address will take place on Feb. 6 from 9:45 a.m. to 10:50 a.m. at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. The keynote address is sponsored by Malarkey Roofing Products.
