Encapsulated Vacuum Insulation Panel

Kingspan Insulation North America announced the addition of OPTIM-R E to its line of OPTIM-R Series vacuum insulation panels. The new vacuum insulation panel addresses the growing demand for energy-efficient roofing solutions in new build and retrofit applications where construction depth is limited.

OPTIM-R E is a rigid vacuum insulation panel with a fumed silica core that is encased and sealed in a thin, gas-tight envelope. This construction delivers exceptionally low thermal conductivity, achieving an R-Value of 34.2 per inch at the center of the panel and offering one of the thinnest available solutions for meeting demanding thermal performance targets. Each panel is also encapsulated in a proprietary coating that increases durability and reduces risk of handling on site.

“OPTIM-R E represents the next evolution in high-performance insulation, developed by listening to our customers and responding to real-world challenges. The original OPTIM-R set a new standard with its unmatched thermal performance, and with OPTIM-R E, we’ve taken that innovation even further,” said Rob Hinckley, vice president of sales, Kingspan Insulation North America. “Its proprietary spray coating can defend against the everyday hazards found on job sites, offering greater durability without compromising its exceptional R-value per inch. This product is not just more durable, it’s a direct result of feedback from architects and contractors, and a testament to Kingspan’s commitment to innovation and solutions that meet the market’s needs.”

In new construction applications, OPTIM-R E can significantly improve R-values in areas that might otherwise reduce the building envelope’s overall thermal performance. In retrofit projects, it enables insulation in locations that may have previously remained under-insulated due to space restraints.
