Glass Roof Gets High Marks for Innovation

The LAMILUX Modular Glass Roof MS78 sets new standards for modern construction. With accolades such as the Red Dot Design Award and the German Design Award, the product provides aesthetic clarity, functionality and sustainability. However, the system’s versatility is not just theoretical—numerous successful projects in Germany, Austria and the Netherlands showcase its capabilities.

Design and Function

The Modular Glass Roof MS78 has a strong symbiosis of form and function. Outstanding thermal insulation, a clear design language and exceptional safety performance make it a versatile product for demanding architectural projects. “Our goal was to create a solution that offers architects maximum design freedom while meeting the highest standards of energy efficiency and sustainability,” explains Niklas Braun, technical director at LAMILUX.

With variable lengths, inclinations and module heights, the glass roof offers unparalleled flexibility. Thanks to its modular design it can be quickly and easily integrated into existing or new roof constructions. Automated production processes provide a decisive advantage for the fast and easy realization of projects.

The MS78 Skylight is also built with safety in mind. It guarantees the highest level of safety from the first sealing level thanks to a butt-covering drainage profile (SEP), the best quality standards thanks to a high degree of prefabrication, as well as durable and easy-care materials and surfaces.

Roof Renovation

In the picturesque Black Forest, the Modular Glass Roof MS78 proved to be a good solution for a renovation project in Freiburg, Germany. LAMILUX’s skylight replaced the leaking glass roof of a residential home. Thanks to its modular design, it not only adapted to the individual dimensions of the roof but was also fully installed within a single day.

“The expansive glass roof brings not only plenty of daylight into the interior but also fresh air and excellent thermal insulation,” says Christian Breisacher, LAMILUX representative. “This allowed us to restore the connection between living space and nature, which is so essential in the region.” Alongside photovoltaic systems, the glass roof complements the eco-friendly architecture and contributes to sustainable construction.

Light for Berlin’s Buckower Felder

In the bustling metropolis of Berlin, Germany, the Modular Glass Roof MS78 also demonstrates its strengths. In the newly designed urban district “Buckower Felder” in Neukölln, 900 apartments, medical practices and community centers have been built.

For the residential buildings, the project team deliberately chose to integrate LAMILUX skylights. Benjamin Vierke, a long-standing customer and daylight expert, witnessed the product launch of the MS78 at the BAU 2023 trade fair and was convinced: “The simple installation and the usual LAMILUX quality made the MS78 the ideal choice. It provides natural light and fresh air—a real benefit for living comfort in densely built urban areas.”

Flexibility, Sustainability, Safety

Whether in idyllic Freiburg or vibrant Berlin, the LAMILUX Modular Glass Roof MS78 impresses with its design, functionality and sustainability. It simplifies construction and renovation processes, enhances living comfort, and actively contributes to environmental protection. In doing so, it sets new standards for contemporary construction projects worldwide.
