Coping

The Garland Company Inc., a Garland Industries company manufacturing and solutions for the commercial building envelope based in Cleveland, Ohio, announces the newest addition to its edge metal line: R-Mer Force Coping. R-Mer Force Coping brings strength and an architecturally pleasing look to a tried and true family of metal edge products designed to protect the vulnerable conditions around a roof perimeter.

“We are thrilled to add a new coping to the R-Mer Force product line, especially one that exemplifies our commitment and promise to our customers to provide building envelope solutions with the best overall performance,” explains Garland’s Vice President, Brett Wygal.

R-Mer Force Coping is built with a high-performance design with building owners’ satisfaction at top of mind. Anchor chairs and a snap-on design eliminate the need for exposed fasteners, ensuring a watertight performance and ease of installation. Without fasteners penetrating the coping cap, the material has the ability to expand and contract, allowing for unlimited thermal movement. The durability of the 16 GA steel anchor chairs provides exceptional wind uplift ratings, making R-Mer Force Coping Garland’s strongest coping to date while remaining a code-compliant design in accordance with ANSI/SPRI/FM 4435/ES-1 standard.

“Accessories such as inside and outside premanufactured mitered corners, end caps, transitions, and tees can be configured to conform to unique geometries for versatility on a multitude of roofs and are easy-to-install with pre-punched fastening holes on each anchor chair and ‘snap-on’ design,” explains Garland’s Director of Technical Services and Engineering, Tom Diamond, P.E.

The design of R-Mer Force Coping in 10’0” lengths, without the drip angle, allows for straightforward installation, resulting in quicker installs and lower labor costs, ultimately benefiting customers with a durable solution and lower installation cost. However, “Garland doesn’t make sacrifices in appearance to ensure an easy installation and superior performance; one of the most significant attributes of this addition to the R-Mer Force line is the clean aesthetics,” says Wygal.

This coping allows customers to achieve a modern, elegant look for their building’s edge in various colors. Enhanced appearance doesn’t stop at aesthetics, R-Mer Force Coping includes a selection of cool roof colors that reflect UV light and can contribute to energy efficiency as an extension of Garland’s commitment to sustainability.
