Johns Manville (JM), a Berkshire Hathaway company, announces the launch of EPDM FIT Self Adhered (SA). The new solution offers contractors installation times that are up to three times faster than traditionally adhered membranes. It’s easy to apply and adheres strong at installation.
“The introduction of self-adhering EPDM is a game changer for contractors by speeding up the installation time and widening the temperature window for installation,” said JM Single Ply Portfolio Manager Matt Sayer. “The factory-applied adhesive makes this a true peel-and-stick solution that eliminates the wait time for adhesive flash off.”
EPDM FIT SA is ideal for hospitals and schools, which may be sensitive to odors or VOC limitations. Because of its self-adhering properties, there is no need for VOC-containing adhesives or primers. Self adhered applications also minimize jobsite waste and provide labor efficiencies for with no adhesive flash off time. It features UL and FM approvals, and has excellent green strength with strong bond strength throughout the life of the system. The split-release liner helps to speed installation time and delivers a labor-saving solution for installers. Its two combined layers of membrane produce a fully cross-linked monolithic membrane.
The black EPDM membrane is available in a 60-mil thickness. It can be adhered in temperatures of 20-degrees Fahrenheit or above and features factory inseam tape for superior quality assurance and labor savings when compared to field-fabricated seams. It has exceptional lay flat capabilities that result in an aesthetically pleasing finished product. It is fully extruded and produces fewer air voids, more uniform thickness and smoother sheets. The membrane is available in 10-foot-by-100-foot rolls.
