Atlas Roofing Corporation broke ground on August 24 on its 34th North American shingle manufacturing facility, located in Clinton, Iowa. The $200 million project, which was announced in April, will encompass 500,000 square feet and be built on 150 acres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 50 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony, including Atlas employees, local media, representatives from the Iowa Department of Transportation, Iowa Finance Authority (IFA), Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) and the city of Clinton, as well as Sen. Chris Cournoyer, Rep. Tom Determann, and Clinton Mayor Scott Maddasion, who spoke about why this partnership is valuable to his city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThis project is not just a production factory in our [Lincolnway] Industrial Rail & Air Park, but this project is part of the continued livelihood of our community as a whole,\u201d Maddasion said. \u201cIt\u2019s an opportunity for our residents to work at a top-notch facility, to have high-quality jobs out here in our rail park and have the ability to grow with Atlas as they grow here as well.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investment in New Horizons will allow Atlas to fulfill the growing demand for reliable, high-quality roofing materials, including Pinnacle Pristine shingles featuring Scotchgard Protector and Pinnacle Impact shingles featuring UL 2218 Class 4 impact resistance, Scotchgard Protector and 3M Smog-Reducing Granules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new manufacturing facility, which is anticipated to be a three-year project, is projected to start production in the second quarter of 2026. It will be Atlas Roofing\u2019s biggest plant in its Shingles and Underlayments Division. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
