Multibase SBMule-Hide Products Co. has expanded its Silicone Roof Coating System with Multibase SB, a new primer that delivers stronger adhesion and prevents asphalt bleed-through in non-ponding water conditions. Multibase SB is a one-part, 100 percent acrylic-based resin intended for use as a primer prior to the application of Mule-Hide 100% Silicone Roof Coating. It can be used on modified bitumen, asphaltic built-up roofing (BUR) and PVC roof surfaces.

According to the manufacturer, the primer contains minimal pigment and no mineral fillers, enhancing its adhesion to the roof surface. In addition, its relatively thin viscosity and low surface tension allows the primer to completely saturate the roof surface, further helping form a strong bond.

Multibase SB blocks asphalt bleed-through, helping ensure that white finish coats are clean and bright and deliver optimal reflectivity. The primer can be applied using airless spray equipment, a roller or a brush. Its light yellow color cures to a darker amber hue as the coating dries, providing visual confirmation that the coating has cured and the finish coating can be applied.

It is not intended for use on coal-tar-pitch roofs, on TPO membranes or in areas that experience ponding water. Multibase SB is available in 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums.

Color Matching Sealant Offers Indoor-Outdoor Versatility

New Echo Colorway color matching sealant from Mule-Hide Products Co. allows contractors to deliver window, door and siding projects that are tough, durable and beautiful, according to the company.

Echo Colorway is a one-component, rapid moisture-cure caulk designed for interior/exterior use in sealing around windows, doors and siding. It provides aggressive adhesion with the most common construction substrates, including fiber cement, cedar, brick, stone, coated aluminum, steel, fiberglass, vinyl, PVC, stucco, EIFS (Exterior Insulation and Finish System), wood, glass, concrete, masonry, flashing tapes and Kynar. It also is compatible with a wide range of additional materials, including rubberized asphalt flashing and other flexible plastic building materials.

A palette of 29 colors – from Ultra Clear, White and Black to a rainbow of tans, browns, blues, greens, reds and grays – makes it easy to coordinate the caulk with windows and siding. The caulk can also be painted just two hours after application, ensuring a perfect fit for those hard-to-match projects.

The new adhesive can be used in a wide variety of applications, including adhering standard TPO and standard EPDM membranes to horizontal and vertical surfaces; adhering fleece back membranes to vertical surfaces; enhancing the bond between Mule-Hide F5 Air & Vapor Barrier and various substrates; and priming unexposed asphalt prior to applying Mule-Hide HeliX Low-Rise Adhesive for insulation attachment.

AeroWeb’s low-VOC (volatile organic compound), methylene chloride-free formula provides powerful adhesion and a quick drying time in a wide range of temperatures, helping contractors avoid weather-related delays. It can be applied as an adhesive or primer in ambient temperatures as low as 25 degrees Fahrenheit.

Fast, even aerosol application saves crews time while also increasing the coverage rate. Applied using a self-contained spray system, AeroWeb goes on up to 60 percent faster than traditional roller-applied adhesives. The web-like spray pattern also means that the adhesive must be applied to just 75 percent of the surface, versus 100 percent coverage with roller-applied adhesives.

A short tack time and long application window further boost crew productivity. AeroWeb flashes off in less than five minutes, so crews aren’t kept waiting. AeroWeb then remains sticky longer, enabling crews to work with larger sections of membrane.

According to the company, setup is minimal. Clean-up of tools and surfaces is fast and easy using UN-TACK safe solvent or mineral spirits. AeroWeb complies with VOC-related regulations in all 50 states. It is sold in #40 cylinders filled with 30 pounds of adhesive. The coatings’ solvent base and ultra-low moisture permeability enable them to outperform other coating types in ponding water applications, according to the manufacturer. They will not delaminate if the substrate becomes wet and, unlike water-based coatings, they will not re-emulsify during prolonged exposure to ponding water.

The lack of permeability also helps prevent corrosion of metal substrates and makes the coatings highly resistant to algae and fungi. Antioxidants and light stabilizers ensure the coating system’s durability throughout the roofing system’s service life.

Because the SEBS Roof Coating System is solvent-based, it cannot be shipped to areas that regulate the use of products containing volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

100 percent Silicone Sealant is a mastic version of the Mule-Hide 100 percent Silicone Roof Coating. It is a moisture-cure silicone sealant designed for use in sealing and repairing roofs, masonry, architectural sheet metal, and metal roof seams and fasteners. 
 
The addition of clear sealant allows contractors to complete projects that would otherwise require color-matching. It is available packaged in tubes only.

In addition to clear, the tubes are available filled with white sealant. The plastic cartridges are an option for use in smaller applications or when precision is required. They also can be submerged under water to repair roof leaks, gutters and downspouts.
 
100 percent Silicone Sealant provides adhesion to concrete, masonry, polyurethane foam, EPDM membranes, TPO membranes, aged PVC membranes, aged acrylic coatings, granular cap sheets, wood, metals, Kynar finishes and most other building materials. When using 100 percent Silicone Sealant with a TPO roof membrane, Mule-Hide Si TPO Primer must be applied first. 
 
The sealant has minimal odor, making it contractor- and building-occupant-friendly. Its volatile organic compound (VOC) content of less than 10 grams per liter makes it acceptable for use in areas with VOC restrictions. It does not corrode metals.

A two-part design, with a base and a top cover, makes EclipsEdge versatile and helps eliminate entire steps often required in traditional installations. The profile can be used in TPO, EPDM and PVC roofing systems and is not sensitive to membrane thickness.

EclipsEdge is not fastened to the horizontal surface of the roof, so there are no fasteners to seal with membrane flashing. There is no need to install a continuous clip when the face dimension exceeds 4 inches. The ends of the top cover are notched for overlapping, eliminating the need for joint covers.

Using the EclipsEdge provides the same aesthetics from the ground as traditional coping cap installations while using a fraction of the metal. It also eliminates the need to measure and fabricate copings, and then return to the jobsite to complete the job.

Fastener holes are pre-punched for installation. EclipsEdge can be installed using battery-operated equipment.

EclipsEdge complies with ANSI/SPRI ES-1, “Wind Design Standard for Edge Systems Used with Low Slope Roofing Systems.”

EclipsEdge is available in prefinished steel, aluminum, stainless steel and bonderized steel. The standard base is fabricated from 22-gauge GALVALUME Plus steel or .050-gauge aluminum. The cover is available in 24-gauge GALVALUME with mill or Kynar finish, 24-gauge stainless steel or .040-gauge aluminum in mil or Kynar finish. All covers measuring 9- to 13-inches are fabricated with aluminum.
