MFM Celebrates 30th Anniversary of Peel & Seal Waterproofing Membrane

MFM Building Products announced that its flagship product, Peel & Seal, is celebrating its 30th anniversary in the marketplace.

MFM has been the manufacturer of a full envelope of self-adhering waterproofing and weather barrier products for the building industry since 1961. According to the company, Peel & Seal was first introduced in 1988 as a self-stick, roll roofing waterproofing membrane specifically designed for low-slope roofing and general flashing applications. The product received several U.S. Patents for its unique composition of laminated aluminum foil, high-density polymer films and a layer of rubberized asphalt adhesive. The product adheres directly to the substrate and is self-sealing around fasteners to create a watertight bond. This product provides a long-lasting, durable, maintenance-free roofing surface without the use of coatings or coverings. The aluminum surface reflects heat keeping internal temperatures cooler, lowering utility costs.

Usage of the product includes whole roof coverings, flashing around exterior protrusions and skylights, as well as any hard-to-waterproof architectural detail. Peel & Seal is compatible with EPDM roofs when utilizing specialized EPDM primers. This 45-mil product is available in 3-inch, 4-inch, 6-inch, 9-inch, 12-inch, 18-inch and 36-inch wide x 33.5-foot length rolls (1 square). Color options include aluminum, white, granite gray and almond. Peel & Seal® comes with a 10-Year Limited Warranty.

Atlas Roofing has released its WeatherMaster Granular SE underlayment, which can help prevent ice dams from forming. The peel-and-stick underlayment is designed for maximum ice and water protection under any roofing shingles, including asphalt, tile, wood shake, slate and metal. It helps secure the entire deck of a properly ventilated roof, especially in sections where water collects or drainage is slow, as well as vulnerable areas, including flashings, valleys, eaves, hips, ridges, rakes, dormers and skylights. The 55-mil-thick product’s backing seals directly to the roof deck and is reinforced with a fiberglass mat. It is cold-applied and no special adhesives, heat or equipment are necessary.
