Union Corrugating Launches a MetalProTECTION System Warranty

Union Corrugating has launched a MetalProTECTION System Warranty available to the marketplace. This warranty is now available to homeowners when purchasing a new metal roofing system installed by a Union factory-trained MetalPro contractor.

When installation requirements are met, this warranty guarantees homeowners 10 years of labor protection covering 100 percent of labor and materials in case of manufacturing defects.

“Our MetalPro contractor program is a quality metal roofing installation training program,” says Keith Medick, Union CEO. “Using our contractors, coupled with Union’s recommended roofing components, homeowners will get a quality metal roof and warranty protection. We don’t know of a better warranty out there that delivers the peace of mind they deserve,” says Medick.

Union Corrugating Has Added Standing Seam Manufacturing Capabilities

As part of its strategy to continuously improve service levels and lead-times, Union Corrugating has added standing seam manufacturing capabilities to their Orange, Va. manufacturing facility. The new equipment makes Union’s Advantage-Lok II, SL 150 and ML 150 profiles.

“We have redefined our mission statement to be the most convenient metal roofing supplier in the industry, and as a result, we are investing heavily in expanding production capabilities at our plant locations to improve lead-times,” says Keith Medick, Union’s CEO. “The new machinery will significantly reduce lead-times for our customers in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland and Delaware by eliminating the need for shipments from our Fayetteville, N.C. plant. Customers can now expect lead-times for standing seam to be only a few days, a significant improvement from the one to two weeks in the past.”

The profiles are popular in residential and light commercial applications and Union has experienced strong growth with these products in recent years. Below is a description of the profiles being manufactured:

  • Advantage-Lok II – 1-inch rib screw flange standing seam
  • SL 150 – 1.5-inch rib snap lock standing seam
  • ML 150 – 1.5-inch rib mechanically seamed standing seam

Union Corrugating Releases Animated Installation Videos

Union Corrugating Inc. has released its latest roofing innovation to the industry: 3D digitally animated installation videos. Using the latest technology, these videos reveal easy to follow instructions for each of the critical installation steps.

“We have started with our most popular panel, MasterRib, and have completed video instruction on the major installation steps,” says Keith Medick, Union CEO. “Our plan is to complete a series like this for all of our roofing systems.” For MasterRib, Union has completed videos that start with the installation of REPEL Synthetic Underlayment, and continues through how to install MasterRib Panels, Roof Eave Trim, Valleys, and Pipe Boots. In the very near future, Union will be adding the remaining videos to complete the MasterRib series.

“Our initial reviews are outstanding and I’m proud to say that they have been labeled ‘By far the easiest to understand metal roofing videos out there,’” says Medick.

Union Corrugating Adds Trim Lines to N.C. Manufacturing Facility

Union Corrugating has purchased two new trim lines for its Fayetteville, N.C., manufacturing facility. In its continuing effort to bring the best metal roofing products to the industry, CEO Keith Medick says: “We’ve experienced strong sales growth and were looking at ways to improve both our production capacity and overall product quality. This significant investment helps us in both areas, which will lead to happier customers.”

The new lines improve production tolerances, speed part changeovers and allow for the production of two parts at the same time. Quality improvement of the ridge cap, fascia, rake and corner, and gable trims are most evident because these parts are very visible. “Consistent, closer tolerances of parts off of these lines diminish installation issues and improve the aesthetics of the overall installation,” says Medick.

In addition to the improved quality of parts, the new equipment will provide quicker lead times. “I look at this equipment as another stepping stone to the A+ experience we want to offer our customers,” says Medick. “We keep pushing the bar to new heights.”

MetalPro Program Sees Record Number of New Members

Union Corrugating’s MetalPro program saw a record number of new members in 2013. MetalPro helps new and experienced metal roofing contractors refine their skills and stay up to date on the latest installation procedures.

“Contractors are on the front lines of the metal roofing market, and they are seeing an increased interest and popularity of residential metal roofing,” says Jason Thornton, Union’s vice president of Sales and Marketing. “As a result, we decided to look at how we could add training sessions to the MetalPro program to assure our contractors stay ahead of this increasing market.”

The MetalPro program provides training on the latest products and installation processes and techniques with a focus on residential applications. It also provides members with sales and marketing information they can use when talking with homeowners. Thornton adds, “In 2014, we will be conducting a minimum of one MetalPro session each week for the entire year. We’ve also added more advanced training so that existing members can continue to learn.”

The Basic MetalPro training class is required for all new members. In addition, Union has added new classes to the 2014 schedule, including:

MetalPro Standing Seam Installation – Session focuses on all three types of our standing seam products — screw-flange, clipped, and mechanically seamed.
MetalPro StoneShield Installation – Session focuses on installation of our StoneShield stone coated shingle products.
MetalPro Sales Training – Session covers product features and benefits as well as best practice sales techniques for selling to homeowners.

Union Corrugating Focuses on Customer Service

Union Corrugating Inc. has been a metal roofing manufacturer for more than 60 years, creating a brand that brings commercial and residential material excellence to the industry. CEO Keith Medick, who joined Union in mid-2013, has set his sights on being the best in another aspect of the company: service. “Our customer service record is a good one, but I’d like to make sure we’re doing everything we can,” says Medick. “Our team is currently working on ways to elevate what we can do from a service perspective to give our customers what they deserve, which is an A+ experience from the first phone call to final delivery.”

The recent launch of the Union Corrugating MyMetalRoof iPad App was one of the stepping stones to the A+ experience that Medick talked about, providing customers with a visualization tool that has the ability to see what a metal roof looks like on their application. “We are continually looking at these types of innovations to move us forward with what we can offer our customers,” said Medick.

Union Corrugating’s contractor team will continue to have Union’s MetalPro training classes offered to them. MetalPro helps both new and experienced metal roofing contractors refine their skills and stay up to date on the latest installation procedures. A proven program, it has become the #1 factory trained residential metal roofing contractor network in America. “MetalPro helps lay the foundation for that A+ experience. Metal roofing is the best technology out there, but if it’s not installed correctly, the homeowner will be disappointed. We won’t let that happen,” said Medick.

“Our employees are some of the nicest, most reliable and most ethical folks around, coupled with their ability and aptitude to deliver quality product on-time, complete, and with a smile,” said Medick. “Our goal of being a world-class company is a heartbeat away, and we are all committed to what it takes to make that happen. We believe our service strategy will see that come to fruition.”
