Owens Corning Announces Continued Investment in Production Capability With Medina, Ohio Plant Capacity Expansion

In a recent letter to customers, Owens Corning Roofing President Gunner Smith detailed plans for the company’s investment in production capability to support the growing demand for its roofing products.

Smith stated, “Owens Corning is investing in its Medina, Ohio operation to significantly expand laminated shingle production capacity.”

The letter went on to detail that the investment will transition a 3-tab strip line to produce laminated shingles, while maintaining the flexibility to create other products as well.

Expansion efforts at the Medina facility are underway and the equipment is expected to be fully online in 2025.This investment comes on the heels of multi-million-dollar investments by Owens Corning in manufacturing capabilities to boost capacity across its entire shingle network. Smith remarked that, combined, these investments unlock capacity in line with building a new plant.

Benefits of this holistic capacity expansion plan, as shared by Smith, include getting results quickly, in a cost-efficient manner, and with capacity gains across the entire Owens Corning plant network.

Smith added, “Our priority is servicing your growth, so we must continue to increase our ability to deliver products to you when and where you need them.”
