FlashCo Recognized as One of the Best Places to Work in North Bay Area

FlashCo Manufacturing Inc., headquartered in Santa Rosa, Calif., was recently named one of the 100 best places to work in the North Bay by the North Bay Business Journal. FlashCo was recognized as an exceptional employer with excellent workplace practices.

“FlashCo has been growing at a steady pace,” said FlashCo President Greg Morrow. “That growth and success can be directly attributed to our employees. We’re a team, spread out throughout the country dedicated to the principle that we can save the contractor time. We’ve worked hard to develop a company culture around our core values of integrity, respect, customer satisfaction and can-do attitude.”

The North Bay Business Journal makes its best places to work selections based on employer nominations and employee surveys. The employee surveys include questions related to employer credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie. The 100 winners were chosen from over 8,100 employee surveys submitted. FlashCo is one of 21 first-time winners in the annual survey.

“Our employees and their success are the backbone of our company,” said Morrow. “While
some employees come here with experience, others receive training on the job, giving them a
marketable, in-demand skill that can lead to a lifelong career supporting the roofing industry.”

FlashCo Acquires All Fab, LLC, Creator of the Easy Flapper

FlashCo has announced the acquisition of All Fab, maker of the patent pending Easy Flapper and a variety of TPO and PVC pipe and vent flashings. FlashCo is working with all of All Fab’s customers in their transition to FlashCo.

“We are excited to add All Fab products to our Northwest and nationwide operations,” says FlashCo President, Greg Morrow. “We have known Roger and Melissa Allestad for many years and we have respect for their designs and ability to develop parts.”

All Fab began operations in 2011, starting in a basement shop and growing to over 15 products including cones, breather vents, scuppers and corners. In 2015, All Fab product designer Roger Allestad developed the Easy Flapper to solve a HVAC issue on flat roofs. The Easy Flapper is an exhaust vent for commercial and residential roofs that prevents backdrafts and similar issues for dryers, bathrooms and kitchen hoods. The Easy Flapper offers installation and maintenance ease, and allows simple application designs. In addition, the Easy Flapper has patents pending.

“Melissa and I are excited to have this opportunity with FlashCo,” says Mr. Allestad. “I will
be returning full-time to Loberg Roofing and it gives me the chance to do what I enjoy, developing new products. It has been a blast building a local accessories company. FlashCo has acquired All Fab LLC, but FlashCo has the national reach to develop and grow the market, especially for the Easy Flapper. FlashCo is the right company to take it forward.”

Melissa Allestad has been a driver in developing a loyal customer base for All Fab in the Northwest. Ms. Allestad will be working closely with FlashCo Regional Sales Manager, Rick Morrow and his team to help customers transition to FlashCo. Over the next several weeks FlashCo and all Fab will be visiting customers together.

“It’s a natural fit,” says Mr. Morrow. “Both companies are dedicated to saving the contractor time and All Fab, just like FlashCo, has focused on customer satisfaction. We are
confident that All Fab’s customers will appreciate FlashCo’s service level and capabilities with our Washington plant, and the ability to deliver most orders is one to three days.”

“For us it’s a little bittersweet,” says Mr Allestad. “We have a hardworking team and we enjoyed growing the company, but the opportunity with Loberg is really too good to pass up. We are fortunate to be able to transition All Fab to FlashCo who can take the products to the next level. Plus, we will continue to consult with FlashCo on product development.”

The full transition of All Fab customers to FlashCo will be completed by the end of May.

FlashCo Acquires Dick’s Lead Shop

FlashCo Manufacturing Inc. completed the acquisition of Dick’s Lead Shop from owner Dick Stolz. The acquisition expands FlashCo’s footprint in the Northwest that is served by their Woodland, Wash., location. After 40 years of building and selling lead flashings to roofers in Washington and other western states, Stolz decided it was the right time to retire and FlashCo was the right organization to purchase his business.

“I have known Dick for 25 years,” says FlashCo CEO Greg Morrow. “I originally sold him sheet lead when I was working in the Washington area and I kept in touch with him as I started and grew FlashCo. We’ve always had a mutual respect for one another and this was a good fit with Dick’s passion for his customers.”

“I started the business in 1976 and I have enjoyed building flashings since then,” says Stolz. “I built the business on hard work, a good product and good service, all the things that my customers will enjoy with FlashCo. I’m happy for FlashCo to carry on the business while I’ll have more time for fishing, golfing and traveling with my wife.”

FlashCo completed the acquisition on Oct. 21, 2015. Stolz began notifying his customers and FlashCo is transitioning them to its full product lineup of standard and custom flashings for commercial and residential roofers.

“We are excited to have completed this acquisition,” says FlashCo Director of Sales Bill Bartell. “Our business is built on saving the contractor time. We do that through our commitment to customer satisfaction, respect, integrity and a can-do attitude. These are core values that Dick’s customers have come to expect from him and they will find the same core values with FlashCo.”

FlashCo to Open New Flashings Manufacturing Facility in Piedmont, S.C.

FlashCo Manufacturing Inc. is building its first location dedicated to serving the East Coast and Southeast. The new FlashCo plant opening in Piedmont, S.C., will produce standard and custom accessories for commercial and residential roofing projects. Accessories manufactured will be available in TPO, PVC, lead, copper, zinc and galvanized metal to meet the needs of roofing contractors.

FlashCo saves the contractor time by providing single-ply roof flashings and accessories that install up to five times faster than field-fabricated parts. On a typical job, roof flashings can represent about 5 percent of the project cost but can take up to 20 percent or more of the project time. Saving time and labor costs can make a big difference on the bottom line for contractors. “Saving the contractor time is our mission,” says Greg Morrow, FlashCo president and founder. “With our Piedmont facility, FlashCo will be ideally located to significantly reduce freight costs and transit times for our East Coast and Southeast customers, as well as our private-label partners.”

A key part within FlashCo’s growth has been its commitment to getting standard and custom-made parts to contractors in one to three days. According to Morrow, “It has always been my vision and dream to strategically locate FlashCo throughout the country, because in our business, it is all about getting product into the contractor’s hands when they want it. Roof flashings and accessories are sometimes overlooked on projects, so we get them the parts they need to finish the job on schedule and move their valuable labor resource to new projects.”

FlashCo’s Piedmont facility is scheduled to open June 1, 2014. It will be the seventh facility for FlashCo, joining Santa Rosa, Calif.; Chandler, Ariz.; Woodland, Wash.; Englewood, Colo.; Raytown, Mo.; and North Salt Lake City, Utah.
