Lightweight Composite Pavers Bring Luxury and Ease to New Multifamily Development

Eagle Construction builds Pearl-Certified “high-performing” new homes and new-home communities. Recently, the company completed GreenGate at Short Pump Town Center, a luxury community of townhomes and condos intended to blend seamlessly with specialty shops and local restaurants in Richmond, Virginia. For this high-end multifamily project — their largest to date — it was imperative that Eagle Construction use lightweight, beautiful materials for the terraces and balconies. When engineering, each terrace and patio must be built to support itself, along with other luxury amenities, such as an outdoor fireplace.

Challenges for Terraces and Balconies

If tiles are used, the joist will need to be bulked up, costing more money and time. The other alternative, decking, was unattractive and would not draw buyers to this high-end project. Additionally, it would be more difficult to repair or replace over time.

Other challenges facing Eagle Construction included supply-chain issues that were plaguing most of the construction industry. They needed the pavers to arrive on time in order for the rest of the project to be completed smoothly and successfully.

The Ideal Solution

Eagle Construction turned to their tried-and-true selection of composite pavers, now known as Aspire Pavers. Based on their previous experience, they knew that not only would they be saving costs on materials, but they would also be saving costs on installation. Aspire Pavers feature a patented grid that enables fast and easy installation with less labor. Excellent for rooftop decks, balconies, resurfacing patios, and more, the pavers are made from post-consumer recycled rubber and plastics removed from the waste stream. With how simple it is to place, Eagle Construction had no need to contract with expensive specialists, and future maintenance would be a breeze.

The product is beautiful, with natural textures, and appealing to potential buyers willing to spend money on a chic new home that comes with luxuries similar to a hotel. Because they are made from recycled materials here in the United States, there were no supply-chain issues at all. And the best part? Eagle Construction can trust that they’ve invested in a durable product. In the dozens of projects they’ve used these pavers, they have never once had a water leak or any type of failure.

“We have never had the paver fail, ever,” says Melody Hackett, Vice President, Eagle Construction. “We’ve never had to file a warranty claim.”
