GAF Partners with SoCal Contractors to Bring GAF Roofing Academy Training and Employment Opportunities to Local Communities

GAF is partnering with SoCal-based contractors BYLTup, Celoseal Roofing, and Antis Roofing & Waterproofing to bring the GAF Roofing Academy to the region. The free week-long event will offer students the opportunity to participate in one of three unique trainings, including residential/steep-slope roofing training, commercial/low-slope roofing training, or roofing sales/insurance training.

The GAF Roofing Academy combines in-classroom and hands-on training and is designed to help individuals build the necessary skills for an entry-level position in roofing. The one-week courses will begin on October 23 and are open to anyone — no previous construction experience is required. Once the training is completed, students will participate in a job fair with the partner contractors as well as other local employers looking to hire motivated graduates.

The GAF Roofing Academy is part of GAF’s social impact initiative, GAF Community Matters, which is focused on making a positive difference as neighbors and partners in the community by leveraging roofing expertise, resources and products to help build resilient workforces, shelter, and families.

The GAF Roofing Academy is a free training program developed to help individuals, especially those in underrepresented or disadvantaged groups, build the necessary skills for an entry-level position in roofing. The program combines in-classroom and hands-on training to teach participants skills on all types of roofing without the need for prior formal education or experience. After the program, graduates are given access to job opportunities from GAF’s national network of more than 10,000 independent, certified contractors seeking talent. Since GAF Roofing Academy started in 2020, GAF has trained more than 2,000 participants and has placed approximately 60% of them in jobs.
