IMPs Help Showroom/Garage Make a Statement and Lower Energy Costs

Patriot Sales and Service Inc., an authorized distributor of Miller Industries, was looking to expand its services, which led to breaking ground for the construction of a new 27,000-square-foot facility in Plainville, Massachusetts. The company is a worldwide towing equipment manufacturer, and the expansion would enable Patriot to double its repair and installation capabilities to better serve customers. The new facility would include garage space, a showroom, and offices.

Given New England’s hot and humid summers and cold, snowy winters, building owners were searching for a façade solution for the new structure that would lower energy costs. Metl-Span insulated metal panels were the ideal choice for both energy efficiency and curb appeal.

“Metl-Span IMPs were the right fit because we were able to quickly enclose the structure, which allowed for the interior work to begin sooner,” notes Dennis Nugent, field services representative, Metl-Span. “The design also called for different profiles, colors, and both vertical and horizontal panel installation, and Metl-Span was able to provide a custom solution.”

Right on Brand

The new Patriot Sales facility sits just off Route 1, a major highway in the area. Owners wanted the building to make a statement and effectively communicate the brand’s patriotic attributes.

The project team selected CF Architectural wall panels for the office and showroom in Sante Fe and Harbor Blue. Metl-Span’s CF Architectural metal panels have a flat, monolithic look, providing an attractive appearance for design flexibility. CF Architectural panels simultaneously provide a sleek building façade, while increasing the building’s energy efficiency. CF Striated panels were also selected in Polar White to provide an accent to the typical flat wall panels. The exterior face is lightly profiled with narrow striations to create a subtle shadow effect. CF Striated wall panels allow for a perfect combination of aesthetics with the high insulation value of an insulated foam core.

Additionally, CF Mesa was selected in Tundra for the garage. Metl-Span’s CF Mesa offers thermal, vapor, and moisture barrier in a single component, delivering high R-values to create energy efficient spaces. CF Mesa is designed with concealed clips to decrease thermal bridging and is well equipped for exterior walls, interior walls, and ceiling applications. CF Mesa panels are also a sustainable option designed to help meet green building standards by being 100% recyclable at the end of the building’s life.

CFR Roof panels were also selected in Polar White for use over the office and showroom. Metl-Span’s CFR Roof is an innovative, all-in-one composite insulated seam roof panel design that provides unsurpassed weathertight performance. CFR’s unique advantage, factory-cut panel notching and swaged ends, eliminate the need for additional time-consuming labor.

“I am very happy with the overall outcome. It’s a very attractive building. We constantly have people telling us how great it looks,” said Cathy Casali, owner of Patriot Sales. “It feels great to have a new facility that all of our employees can take pride in and enjoy.”
